I'm not sure I get it, but I'm tempted to send it to my friend who's an anarcho-communist to see what he says.

He will say, "welcome to my world".

> I'm not sure I get it

My presumption:

Self declared Anarchists are very often confronted with "What If" scenarios, in an attempt to convince them that Anarchy is an ill advised state.

My own personal favorite is "What if a State emerges?"

'What prevents a new state emerging?' does seem like a very good question.

In a power vacuum, I would imagine that it wouldn't take long to people to fall to tribalism, which would eventually give way/become a set of proto-states.

Indeed, what if states, or something like them, are an emergent feature of large human groups?

The Origins of Political Order by Fukuyama returned my mind to this track when I read it recently.

Did you know that anacap societies are comprised of people, and that people don't make governments? I was told that one the other day.

Ooh, nice! I haven't seen this one before.
I will have to keep it for my own library.

Its kind of like libertarianism. Never really being tested is its best quality, so they can just pooh pooh any what-if with their own utopian explanation. Except of course anarchy really has been tested, they'll just no-true-scottsman it to death.

What if the rich don't want to give up their wealth and power?

Anarcho-capitalism doesn't have that "problem".

Ah, that right, but aren't they really just full-out libertarians. Real anarchists are egalitarian-dreamers, aren't they?

They should be.

Supposedly large companies are a function of government and would not exist without governments giving them charters. Who knew!

It's true. In more primitive cultures/theose with more ineffective governments, the only way to ensure against embezzlement is to hire only Family.

IIRC, [livejournal.com profile] interdictor has a wife and a killing machine daughter. They'd best get picking olives.

Anarchy is such a stupid ideology that, understandably, people have a lot of questions about how it is supposed to work effectively. The person in the image is excited because maybe some of those questions might be answered by the tome. (Though, I'm not holding out much hope for him.)
