Pretty much. Karate is one of the worst; they train you to *hit* *retreat* *pause*. Because you have to score the point then wait for the point to be scored. Meanwhile, on the street, you've been stabbed in that time.

My friend's husband had the same issue because he loves his trilby but he knows about the hat=douchebag thing. We told him that hanging out with us (a giant mixed group of mostly women) totally negates the meme. He's probably one of the nicest people I've met too so just wear the hat you like man.
