Yeah, big smart Karl Rove, the mastermind behind the Bush Administration, and the President's brain...is so derelict as to commit a federal crime in leaking the the alleged identity of a CIA deskjockey.
He's not a "hero" of mine, but he is a brilliant strategist. So much so, that even his rivals consider him one. With that being said, if Karl Rove is this insanely brilliant one-man thinktank, do you think he would do something that would implicate him on federal charges? Given what I've read, I'm not seeing a crime committed. This has been covered hundreds of times by both sides, but he didn't name her by name to Matthew Cooper. He referred to her as Joe Wilson's wife, whose name is Valerie Wilson. Her "code name" is Valerie Plame, and she hasn't been a NOC in nearly 10 years. Her life wasn't in danger, and neither was her husband's. It's being made out to be she is some secret agent infiltrating the enemy and dealing with unscrupulous people on the front lines. She was a paper pusher assigned to some mission. She was in the rear with the gear so to speak.
i think the issue lies more with the fact that a high ranking official would leak anything confidential when we are supposed to be on 'elevated alert'.
for the most part though, and i cant believe im saying this, i agree with you. we have more important stuff to worry about.
I don't buy that little color code thing any more than the next person. I feel we're always gonna be on alert, so Red, Orange, Purple, Pink, Green, whatever...it doesn't matter.

Awwww, that's so sweet. See, I'm not quite the big meanie face as everyone here seems to think :) Feel free to agree with more of what I have to say. It's good for the soul. Come to the dark side...*breathes heavily*
She was NOC in 1999. She declared her employer as her CIA cover company on her tax returns.
As for Rove, while he is very smart, sometimes intelligence goes to your head. And if you think you wont be caught, then so much the better.
Anyway, he knew not to leak her relations.
Memo Underscored Issue of Shielding Plame's Identity By ANNE MARIE SQUEO and JOHN D. MCKINNON Staff Reporters of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL July 19, 2005; Page A3
A classified State Department memo that may be pivotal to the CIA leak case made clear that information identifying an agent and her role in her husband's intelligence-gathering mission was sensitive and shouldn't be shared, according to a person familiar with the document.

Actually, what do you think the odds are that this is all part of one of his schemes? ;)
