Had the OP guy been referring to this company's product, I would be inclined to forgive his trend-sucking vocabulary.
As to smart gizmos, why stop (http://www.theenergydetective.com/about-ted) at the thermostat? I want the whole house! Integrating the two would be even better.
You mean the cartoon or the poster here? I think the cartoon is referring to the buy-out. Not sure about namey, although this was pretty big on the news. Anytime Google spends a couple of billion to buy something, everybody in the media hyperventilates and makes a huge mess all over themselves.
A number of friends and coworkers have them, so it triggered with me a bit more, but yeah, Google Bought Something... and I'm not sure what else it the cartoon would be referring to, per peristaltor's comment.
I think peristaltor may have thought that pretentious techie hipsters refer to their apartments as "nests", although I can't imagine why they would want to. Associating nests with people generally is a very negative thing - As in "nest of bombers/terrorists". Honestly, I can't imagine why the company would want it as a name, unless the company was run by a pretentious techie hipster who doesn't understand the history of the word s/he is using.
Maybe Google saved them from themselves.
How do your friends and co-workers like the service?
That's what I was referring to, yes. The trendy thing was to refer to a night in as "nesting" some time back. I still hear it on occasion and roll the eyes.
I'm not plugged into the tech hype as much as many, it seems. I guess I'll just apologize for being too old and get back to whittling on my porch and yelling at them darned kids on my lawn.
