alternative thought: I recall reading somewhere that when studied, women and men were aroused by images of nude women but not nude men (this was not based on verbal sexual orientation, but blood flow and the like) and the theory, as i recall, is that a womans nude body is, from visual cues, already ready for sex. The images of nude men strolling around did not appear to be sexually activating for people because it didn't entail sexual readiness.
The comic may miss out on some small differences in biology; sometimes flipping the gender script doesn't work. /twocents
And testosterone really is its own devil hormone. Of course, that doesn't necessarily excuse anything, and we are capable of learning and overcoming, to some extent, but it is a factor.
There are *some* aspects to men that women can find irresistible that are masculine. Random anecdote: I love leg hair on a man. totally random and completely out of my control and completely falls in line with the humor of this comic. I think part of the joke is that even if women *are* turned on by random innocuous aspect of males, they aren't going to be jerks about it and point it out/ask men to change, or if they do, they aren't going to make males uncomfortable.
for the record, I am bi, and do generally find women more attractive than men, aesthetically. I don't know anything about sexual "readiness" other than, you know, sexual cues like reddening of the lips and cheeks and other obvious physical changes.
Years ago an old girlfriend dragged me to a nude hot tub on a hippy enclave. When in Rome and all that.
I realized that the reason people get so rattled by sexually stimulating characteristics is that they haven't been forced to act politely around the nude. No popping wood, no swooning or staring allowed. When we cover ourselves and expect those covers to remain in place at all times except when soliciting sex, we send a pretty warped message, one that warps behavior.
