Of course, you have to get to the top ten percent to see any real changes in pretax income over the past 40 years and that top ten percent gained almost all the advantages of tax cuts. So you COULD argue the bottom 90% have gotten royally screwed as far as policy driven mobility is concerned.
But citizens those other countries actually get useful stuff for their money, whereas we mostly get weapons and corporate welfare. It's not so much about how much you pay, but whether it's spent on things you approve of.
I think a lot of my dissatisfaction with taxes comes from dissatisfaction on what the taxes are spent on. We keep pouring more and more money into the system, and nothing ever really gets better.
I'd like my taxes to go toward things like universal healthcare, or expanded medicare, or schools... things like that. I don't think we need to be the police force of the world and have troops stationed everywhere, armed to the teeth.
I honestly don't know why the taxes aren't distributed better. I don't know what happens to it all. I know a lot of it goes to pay interest on our debt, and that kind of sucks too.
I wonder how much national debt other countries have? Without a national debt hanging over their heads, it may free them up to spend more tax money on their people. Without funding a global police force, it might free up money that can be put toward improving lives for all the people.
I don't know... it just seems like we have our priorities in the wrong place. It's not so much about the money; it's about what they're doing with the money.
If the GOP had real fiscal conservatives who would fight to cut budgets like the TSA and Homeland Security and stupid things like the NSA paying people to play Second Life and World of Warcraft, they'd get support from me.
Hey 0utlaw_immortal Do you ever defend your excretions? Have you EVER responded to comments? Or do you simply admit a priori that your posts are insipid and that you have no rational response to even the mildest of criticisms?
