Funeral selfie!
Maybe if the New York Post gets ahold of Mrs. Schmidt's selfie they can add it to their Worst Selfies Ever list. Currently there are 22 of them, almost half of which are funeral selfies.
I also thought it was cute that the article included the ages of nearly all of the women involved (starting with the "Schmidt and Barack get chummy" section), but none of the men.

Date: 2013-12-11 11:34 pm (UTC)The argument about whether or not it's "appropriate" to take selfies at a funeral/memorial/wake/celebration of life/whatever is pretty subjective in my opinion. Mandela probably would have enjoyed seeing world leaders being so chummy, so I say no foul.

Weddings and funerals on his side of the family are generally an excuse to get as many people in one places as possible and give them as much alcohol as possible. Of course, you usually have to sit through two hours of church first, but I'm pretty sure that's just to make everyone start drinking as quickly as they can once it's over.
