Hardball politics is one thing. Shutting down the govt is something else.
Hasnt' happened since the GOP did it in 95'. A little digging showed that it didnt actually *MATTER* before the AG under, that wascally tax-n-spend democrat, Jimmy Carter, said that govt agencies couldn't operate if the govt didnt agree to pay it.
Before the AG made such a decision, govt agencies just assumed congress would get around to fundin them, and went about their business as usual. After the AG made that decision, it became less common for drawn-out budget fights to take *too* long, cause then shit actually started getting mucked up!
So, since the Carter AG made his decision, the most notable times of govt shutdown are....
