Fortunately, race makes it easy to differentiate. ;)

But does the Taliban do all of this while claiming to be for "small government"?

Rambo III. Dude helps the mujahadeen, soon to become the Taliban. Charlie Wilson's blowback.

I have always found that to be a fascinating piece of retroactive historical WTF? If I recall correctly, that movie performed poorly at the box office because between the time it was filmed and the time it was released, America-At-Large's perspective on the issue had shifted.

That being said, as a Stallone junkie, I still love that movie. It's no Oscar or Victory, but it has its moments.

The most recent one about Burma was solid, I thought. Its a perspective, and if I am to seriously consider Black Hawk Down, I have to also embrace John Rambo stories. Rocky was pretty cool, I thought way back when.

The first Rocky is a really solid movie, and is one of the only sports movies to get me misty eyed. (Especially this scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhwERykawlc).)

I don't always agree with the message of the Rambo movies (especially part II), but they are good fun for the most part. And First Blood is a great "hero's tale".

That is a touching scene, thank you. I agree, the message is very much a different thing than the quality of the films themselves. The whole spitting on soldiers thing was really mythologized by that movie.

Both Rocky and Rambo are excellent stories. The sequels are all Hollywood schlock though. Doesn't mean they're not popcorn flicks, but they definitely don't do the originals any justice whatsoever.

Also, if you get a post-2001 copy of Rambo III it says "dedicated to the brave people of Afghanistan" not the Mujahideen :P
