Native American protests at an Arizona Illegal Immigration Rally

Pushing a toddler in a stroller, a rightfully irritated self-identified Native American began yelling at the group, saying: “Y’all f*cking illegal. You’re all illegal. You’re all illegal! We didn’t invite none of you here!” Some of the audio may not be work safe, so be warned.

I believe the definition of "illegal" means "against the law". Given that the law says you're an American citizen if you were born here, and therefore you have the legal right to be here, I would say that race means nothing in this discussion (outside of what the pro-immigration folks like to insist that it is).

Um. They were doing the exact same thing to each other long before. Don't pretend like the Americas were some kind of peaceful utopia until the mean ol' Europeans got there.

Let me get this straight. You want me to accept that the inter-tribal strife between native Americans was IDENTICAL ("the exact same thing") to native Europeans conquering North America. Okay. I see some serious differences, but let's accept that premise.

Now you offer this analogy to deny the irony of descendants of those Europeans protesting peaceful Northern American "immigrants".

What I mean is Native Americans can and did go to war with each other, kill, pillage, and rape each other long before the settlers arrived. And some of them even did it on an approximate scale as the settlers- the Aztec, for example, had a nasty habit of dragging entire villages of conquered tribes off to meet Tlaloc or whoever. European conquerors were much, much worse, sure, but like I said: don't pretend that the Native Americans were some sort of innocent, noble savages before Columbus and Cortez and all the others. Human beings are rotten individuals no matter where or when you go.

I dont recall anyone making assertions that the native americans were immune to violence, and I think OP's point stands.

There is irony in a group of people who's great great grandparents killed the local inhabitants and took land by force declaring people who merely want to live peacefully alongside them illegal.

I fail to see any irony. As I've said many times before, the United States has the right to make its own immigration laws and decide who is there 'illegally' or not. You can not expect the U.S. to throw its borders wide open unless you are willing to expect the EU nations, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil, or any other country you care to name to do the same as well.
