Addition: Before you say "Oh hey, in a month at minimum wage, I get 160 hours.", keep in mind that cost of housing should never be more than 20-30% of your monthly income.

It's a general figure, based on how much you'll have to pay for non-rent expenses. It's not a hard and fast rule, but a general guideline.
