his karma's neutral.

TBH, if it wasn't so serious, the plug he made on twitter would've been hilarious.

If I wanted to sink my money into the capitalist system for the sake of gay rights, I'd just contribute to the HRC.

Shitty ad. Remember though, the only PC maker that's helmed by a member of the GLBT community is Apple, so, fork up for a MacBook or you'll make Perez Hilton cry.

Yeah, but I know more trans women who have or currently work for Microsoft than I know who have or currently work for Apple...

If not photoshopped; That sounds really sarcastic. Like, he knows it's over the top - so over the top that no one but the densest among us might take that seriously. It shows just how much snark has become a part of our society.

It's, of course, rife with heterosexual privilege. It also illuminates the fact that by becoming consumers (being accepted in the 'mainstream') queers of all sorts don't actually gain equality. They simply become another demographic to be marketed to by the capitalist classes.

The conflation of basic human rights and commerce strikes a nerve with me, I'm glad you posted it though.

SO do you think they would have put the sign up if they didn't think they'd get some juice from the GLBT community and that equaling $?

Uh, I hate to be a condescending douche, but the reason that works as a satire of homophobia is not because it's over the top, but because gay people have never been excluded from voting and paying taxes. I'd venture to say it's literally impossible to be able to read and understand that billboard without recognizing that it is, indeed, sarcasm. (It's also an old-ass joke into which "gay people getting married" has been inserted, but even without that it couldn't be more obvious.)

As for heterosexual privilege this is rife with, of course, I'm not seeing it. And let's face it, becoming a demographic to be courted by the "capitalist classes" is a sign of equality in this day and age.
