My little brother is 15 and was 8 or 9 when the show first came out and became popular. I used to watch it with him all the time. I still watch a lot of cartoons.

P.S. A lot of adults watch SpongeBob, especialy (I've heard) amoung gay men, which is a big part of what all this fuss is about.
