The Federal government is passing the bill for the inauguration to the district.
Only 10% of DC voted for Bush. And even if more did, why should they be the ones to pay for the inauguration? The district gets screwed over a lot and doesn't even get the benefits of being a state.
I'm not sure how things work in DC. Does DC have a separate local tax? I thought it was directly supported by the Federal government since it's under the Fed's direction.
ehh yeah it's kinda weird. I don't believe DC should have statehood because that's the whole point of DC, that's it's a part of the Federal government. But I don't think DC residents should get dicked either. :p
what did they expect? the inaguration to take place somewhere else? that and considering much of the cost of the gala is being covered by donations (omg rich evil republicans), i have -0- empathy for DC.
even if they had to pay for it themselves, i have -0- empathy.
