The really sad thing about electronic voting machine is that it's tech geeks (the people who SHOULD like them the most) that are the strongest opponents. Probably because they understand better then anybody else just how trivial it is to completely distort results with these machines and how the industry is so poorly managed that there's little to prevent someone from doing it.
Particularly when the CEO of one of the companies making them vows to deliver Ohio to the Republicans. (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0828-08.htm)
Luckily at least we care enough about gambling enough to do it in a way that gives users some confidence.
Me? As a computer programmer I'll stick with Canada's system: a pencil. It's got a proven track record.
