I didn't post there because I'm not a member of that community. Besides, you linked it here. You can't get defensive when you post something and people comment on it.

How could you think that a Nazi analogy was appropriate? You are obviously left leaning, and I tend to agree with you sentiments, but it's an absurd false analogy, whose only purpose is to provoke. It's cheap, easy, and unfunny.

As for this cartoon, it's an improvement, although I would encourage you to do with less words.

"I don't want to continue publishing/hosting this" isn't remotely like burning books.

If Amazon was burning Wikileaks, they would have to proactively destroy it when it is being published/hosted elsewhere.

If, one day, livejournal decides to delete itself, would they be Nazis? If, one day, the phone company decides to stop printing phone directories, are they Nazis? If, one day, you pitch making your comics into an anthology and the publishers you pitched to said no, would they be Nazis?

Your comparison needs to hunt down the original manuscript of a book & destroy it along with every copy of that book in existence.

Without that, then, yes, if WikiLeaks was a book, Amazon can be thought to have burnt their copy to ash.

If LJ gives plenty of lead time to back up personal journals, if the phone company makes the directory available online, if I can take my comics elsewhere for fair consideration, then your argument falls apart.
