I'm sensing the title was chosen either because the author hadn't seen the films or because the author was hoping his audience hadn't seen the films, because, really the allusion only makes sense as some sinister reference if you haven't seen the films.
Yeah, I know there was a book first, but having seen both movies, I presume the book is similar enough.
