american parties are more firmly rooted in expediency. ideology is just a suggestion.

I'm not getting the implied link? It's sourced to a British creator, the gif image itself (when saving) references the EU, and it was posted by a Canadian.

American politics certainly have stepped beyond these traditional generalizations regarding left and right, especially in the past few decades to be sure.

'Republican' has a rather different meaning in Britain and isn't really associated with conservatives at all.
