I Lu-UUUUHV it when oblivious partisans use the opinions of the opposition to back up their arguments, but cherry pick what they want out that person's opinion. Robert Reich is a public-option advocate. He believes this will prevent what he's describing in the original post.
the government already pays for about 60% of medical research, and what the private sector alone pays, half of that is easily finding ways to alter existing drugs to circumvent patent laws rather than engage in any actual innovation.
death panels exist in the private sector but a proper public option couldn't cancel your coverage.
but in the first clip, the op's clip, reich said the young and healthy will have to pay more. and we won't break the bank trying to save old geezers. this is the reality behind all governmental health systems.
the only old geezers who get extreme care now are the ones who can afford incredibly expensive health care plans. they'll still be able to get them after reform. the difference is, the ones who just die in their one bedroom walkup apartments now will actually have insurance.
