Hmm.
I know we've all thought it before now (Faux's agenda being what it is) but this is the first time that I've seen it as a cartoon. If anyone digs up a previous instance it would be interesting to compare.

I'm no Fox News apologist, and I believe this cartoon is getting at an important issue, but wouldn't Obama have to actually do something before people feel threatened enough to take a shot at him? I mean, so far all the things he's done were things the Republicans were doing before him. Everything else, he's backed down on due to partisan challenge.

Of course, when was an assassin ever rational....

The concept that Obama is as bad as Hitler and more dangerous to this country than Osama bin Laden means that nobody needs any action to justify it. The neo-conservative movement believes that preemptive attacks are justified against potential threats.

keep in mind, these are people who say that he's going to make the US a commie nation. Just like those Nazis.

Interesting thing here is that Obama's assassination would be a total disaster for his opponents. Complete fiasco.

If murdered, Obama will become a legend and an icon forever. If left alone and allowed to act freely, he will enter history as a miserable failure, Carter-style. We need him alive and active.

That's an interesting prewrite of history.

Not much of a prognosis: it's obvious already. The only thing that can prevent it is Republicans getting the Congress back in 2010. In that case Obama will be disabled as well as the Congress, they will have to stop all those experiments, country will prosper and Obama will stay in history as a decent Pres like Clinton.

I'm sure it's based on something. I mean, look at all those people outraged over his birth certificate and the looming ghost of socialism. Those "Obama = Kenyan Muslim Hitler" will really make the President look foolish, not the ones waving them!

Based on his tactics, strategies and achievements in first eight months. You see, from outside of a lefty echo chamber he looks different. For instance, here's how London Telegraph sees (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/6210152/President-Barack-Obama-is-beginning-to-look-out-of-his-depth.html) the situation: "The man who has run nothing more demanding than the Harvard Law Review is beginning to look out of his depth in the world's top job. His credibility is seeping away, and it will require concrete achievements rather than more soaring oratory to recover it."

What tactics, strategies, and achievements make him a failure?

If we go by an op-ed written by some guy, the fact that he didn't restore relations with Moscow and Iran in 8 months? "grizzled [unnamed] Democrats" think he's a pushover? "some" talk about how he's like Carter?

I like how he acts like running Harvard Law Review is a walk in the part, let alone the fact that it's the only thing he managed.

Right, the London Telegraph is owned by Lord Conrad Black, very conservative right wing businessman that was just convicted of fraud in Chicago. You could have saved yourself a lot of time and just quoted Fox News instead :-)

I don't assert it as a fact. In fact, everything can change, Obama's incompetence still can turn out to be a Machiavellian maneuver designed to deceit his opponents, somehow the health care reform will be signed in all its glory, with public option and all the bells and whistles, Arabs and Israelians will quit killing each other and so forth. In that case I will gladly admit that my opinion was wrong.

Not that this will happen, necessarily, but let's say that Obama ends his Presidency and has done nothing more than he has accomplished already. We still haven't figured out where to send Gitmo detainees, we're still in Iraq and Afghanistan, there still is no public option for health care, we're still bailing out banks and large businesses, we still illegally wiretap, etc.

If Obama, in other words, continues to get cockblocked as he has thus far, would you consider him a good President? Again, not that it's a likely scenario, but would you have considered the current absolute quagmire he's in to be likely on election day?

It matters. Is the cockblocking taking place specifically to make him look bad?

Because if things are actively denied/delayed/etc for strictly political purposes, as opposed to being done for the good of the people and the good of the country, then I consider those who made such actions to be the real failures.

If Obama wants a political legacy, he needs to push the boundaries of his executive authority to end all those deadlocks. If he doesn't, I doubt he'll be reelected.

I think it's disengenuous to say "we'll still be in Iraq". Last time I checked, the timetable has serious US troop movements out of Iraq in 2011. That's well before his presidency would be over even if he DOESN'T get re-elected. Add that to this:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/29/obamas-first-100-days-10_n_192603.html (first 100 days alone) and I'll say that so far, it's a wash.

This is not to suggest that I unreservedly support Obama. I didn't vote for him, and it's unlikely I'll vote for him in 2012. But I think that even in his first 7-8 months, he's been a good president.

speaking of which
