A U.S. soldier attending an Obamacare town hall meeting sponsored by Senator Claire McCaskill (D - Missouri) got a standing ovation when he demanded an apology from the Senator for backing Obama's health care plan when, as he pointed out, it's not even covered by the U.S. Constitution.

are townhall meetings covered by the constitution?

You know what's not covered by the U.S. constitution? Public schools. Let's close 'em all down.

I suppose it's really sad when I'm just happy this woman didn't also ask to see his birth certificate.

I haven't been able to find the bit in the constitution for freeways. Or army, navy, marines or airforce for that matter; just some mumbles about a militia.

Freeways are covered by postal roads. Armies are also mentioned.

Yeah maybe this guy forgot as being a member of the armed forces he has government subsidized health care. Scripted much?

Or maybe he feels its unconstitutional for him to have free health care.

Good point. And even Bill Kristol admitted to Jon Stewart that the VA is a first-class health-care system.

But I'm sure this soldier will deny his VA benefits so he can go deal with the free-market pleasures of private insurance.

A) not a political cartoon.

B) the fact that any member of the military (the most bloated and wasteful government spending program in U.S. history) would criticize a program that amounts to chump change in comparison is laughable. What a hypocrite.

C) right after it says "provide for the common defence", the Constitution says "promote the general Welfare". Perhaps he should have kept reading. That is as clear a mandate for government-sponsored healthcare as the line before it is for a government-sponsored military.

Stealth bombers, nuclear warheads, and radar systems aren't covered by the Constitution either. If he wants to be such a literal dumbfuck about the Constitution maybe he should show up on the job with a three-pointed hat and a musket.
