heavens forfend that the banks that are making record profits, the oil companies that are making record profits, the pharmaceutical companies that are making record profits, and the executives who are getting multimillion-dollar bonuses take just a little bit less money to help the people who DO ALL THE FUCKING WORK stay healthy.

Hells, yeah. I work for a large one, and they're even a pretty good one, as far as who they cover and what they do, and they're ROLLING in it. We replace ALL of our servers every year.

Damn. Need a Sr. Storage Engineer? :P

Seriously, though. We have to start SOMEWHERE, people. And lying to instill fear in the people ... wait, we tried that.

Norway has universal health care and HIGHER income per capita than the United States.

Explain.

Norway is also a very big exporter of oil and gas and has a very low unemployment rate.

Wait, so it's possible to have an affluent nation that also has universal health care?! NO!

Who said that it is not possible?

In all fairness (even though Norway rocks) it's not fair to compare per capita incomes between nations two orders of magnitude apart in terms of population. One of which has more oil than they know what to do.

But the comparison stands for other civilized nations. There's a reason why US of A is NOT consistently in the top of 'best places to live' rankings :)

Yeah, I kinda realised this after I'd gotten carried away with all the info :P I actually found it interesting.

My bad.

Oh, and furthermore, top tax bracket is 47.8%, payroll is 14% and corporate is 28%, compared with the US at 45.3, 10.25 and up to 51%, sales tax is the real difference (25% compared to up to 10.25%). Sure, there's the oil, and then there's also the homogeneous and small population, which would likely have a lot more to do with why they're better off.

Anyways, what I'm saying is, quit talking out your arse.

It's funny because it plays off the idea that the President uses things like logic only in this situation he's declaring how much he hates it when people are wealthy.

Could have been better.

The cartoon actually looks more like Richard Nixon than Barack Obama - in which case the caption would make more sense, as well.

It's true - Nixon was all about the wage and price controls.

Can you imagine any president instituting wage any price controls in this day and age?
