But the cartoon is specifically saying that Pelosi is bad for condoning torture, because torture is bad!
This is progress! I'm so glad to see both parties coming together to agree that waterboarding is torture and all who approved of it should be admonished for their compliance.
The point seems to be that Pelosi gave approval, silent or otherwise, of the torture methods that the Bush administration endorsed. I agree with you. It's wrong for her to approve of such tactics, however she did so, as expressed in this comic which clearly states that waterboarding is torture and, thus, un-American, unethical, and not something our nation should condone.
The comic would seem pretty pointless if waterboarding was not illegal, because then how would Pelosi look bad for giving her silent approval?
Umm, didn't we already go over (http://community.livejournal.com/politicartoons/1249101.html?thread=24891213#t24891213) this (http://community.livejournal.com/politicartoons/1249101.html?thread=24899149#t24899149)?
OK, let's see: She was briefed on the use of torture. She MAY have known it was in use, but the administration MAY have buried that fact deeper than she would or could have realistically known. Hmmm....Guess we'll have to see what an investigation of the facts reveals. I would not put either possibility past either side.
Why the use of TORTURE by the Bush administration is turning into "Pelosi is the big bad liberal, blame her, look at her, that's the big deal, ignore the guys in the corner who decided to actually do it!" I'm not sure, but smells vaguely of KoolAid drinking to me. I'm still waiting for the neocon nuts here to: a). Admit their perfect leaders ordered TORTURE. b). TORTURE IS WRONG. c). They need prosecution.
Beyond that, we can discuss who knew what about the whole thing, and prosecute them appropriately.
We've covered that this is smokescreen by the neocons and their wingnuts. Try again. Try harder. Please. You make this too easy.
