Cartoonist Ted Rall laid off

Apparently cartoonist Ted Rall, whose cartoons have been posted here on more than a few occasions, has been laid off after 10 years with United Media:

Was never really much of a fan of his. And though he did lose a job, it's not his cartoon drawing one, so while I feel bad that times got a little tougher for him, at least he didn't lose the whole kit and kaboodle like some people did.

That's very sad. I've enjoyed his work for years.

But his (hopefully temporary) demise is an example of a much larger problem; namely the corporate consolidation and destruction of American print media.
