Obama has continued to protect the phone companies from lawsuits, which is distasteful, but i believe correct. has he also said he would continue illegal wiretaps?

There's some something-or-other that was passed saying that the government can't be held accountable for illegal wiretapping unless the information gained in that wiretapping is made public*. They're also not making public who was spied on when and through what method.

Which is not to say he's doing it, but he extended the sphere of "who can't get sued for all that stuff from before."

(*part of me believes the current administration has no/few/incomplete notes on what was done, similar to what they found out about the prisoners in Gitmo, and this is a half-assed way of trying to keep people from saying "I was spied on!" with the government having no way to really prove it didn't happen.)
