Plenty of them do.

Most Americans wouldn't know real socialism if it bit them on the ass, then handed them a government issue bandaid.

Oh, please. Like the National Review ranks anywhere above being the National Enquirer of political publications anymore?

Do Americans even know what Socialism is??

I'll admit I sometimes have difficulty distinguishing it from communism, at least when applied. I can't speak for anyone else.

Socialism is an economic theory. Communism is political ideology.

99.99% of americans and 120% of republicans are so incapable of understanding that that they wander off aimlessly when someone says it.

socialism is public ownership of the means of production, generally through the mechanism of the state. When/if the state is democratic, that is democratic socialism. If it is totalitarian, aka Stalinism, it is authoritarian, undemocratic socialism.

Communism is the projected phase of history after socialism, when there are no more classes and when the state itself "withers away," to quote Engels. It is a classless, stateless society.

Like Unix, there are different flavors of socialism.

I love how the lefties squeal when their god is defamed. It's almost as bad as what happened to those Dutch Cartoons of Muhammad.

*ahem* Danish cartoons. Thank you for once again mistaking one country for another.

Something is rotten.

Oh put a finger in it...

They are practically in each other's laps. I commute that far on a weekly basis. Enough already with all the little principalities and tiny miniscule pocket-countries in Europe that are smaller than an east-coast US State. It's a wonder we Americans even remember you guys exist.

Good arguments there ... really ... kinda like the Special Olympics of debating.

"Hi, I've been shown for the dumbass that I am, my reply, ummm, it was close and ummmm, it doesn't matter."

It really doesn't.

Call me retarded if you want. It's the nature of your kind.

Check your assumptions. Who said I was trying to win an argument or win your respect?

Ya really think a lot about yourself don'tcha?

I liked the part where you said "Its the nature of your kind" (an obvious assumption) and then told someone else to "check your assumptions"

Also, if youre not trying to win an argument, why post anything?

Congrats on a complete and total fail. Please come again.

How soon they forget.

In any socialist system there is going to be one company (per industry) that is "more equal" than the others. It's like Enron cheerleading carbon trading. They knew there was massive amounts of money to be made as the market maker.

From: [identity profile] polyanarch.livejournal.com
Probably not.

I don't sit on the other side of the aisle.

The righties are just as much socialist a-holes as the lefties as far as I'm concerned.

Bush belongs in jail.

ZOOOM!

This is about the obvious irony of the NR not being able to make up their mind between epithets.
Which is he? Big business's whore or a no good pinko commie socialist?
You can't have it both ways, little one.

Also 'zomg oblahma iz ur messiah lol' is so tired, get a new talking point.

I love how the lefties squeal when their god is defamed.

The complaint isn't that Obama was defamed, the complaint is in the poor quality of the defamation. The covers contradict each other. Its obvious they're just reaching for the latest spin.

Seriously. Better opposition would do everyone good. This is just lame.

What would you like me to think about? That I should buy my gas only from companies that invest in wind power?

To be fair, if scientists can find a way to make post-harvest waste into biofuels, the possible gains for society are tremendous. I'm not going to fault a company for deciding to go with one technology over another.

Now, if they simply dropped all the programs and stuck with oil, that would be a concern.
