This guy's cartoons are perfect for Murdoch's NY Post, because they are both juvenile and occasionally racist. Seriously, this guy is so horrible he almost makes Michael Ramirez look good.

For instance, check out yesterday's afternoon (http://www.nypost.com/delonas/2009/02/02172009.jpg). You have an overly exaggerated Paterson caricature-- big nose, cane, seeing-eye dog, etc-- and a guy masturbating. Stay classy, NY Post.

It's the go-to paper for people who find Lindsey Lohan pictures more important than actual news or analysis, and/or who just looking to read Michelle Malkin's latest screeds in actual print.

PS- The NY Post was pro-goverment spending and intervention last Fall (http://politics4geekz.blogspot.com/2008/09/bailout-please.html). Gee, I wonder what changed? WINK!

Boy this story sure has grown legs pretty quickly. Rupert is going to regret this one. Heh.

Context is everything for this though, here's cover for today's Post that ran this editorial cartoon:

Oh it didn't, it makes it worse in my opinion. I think the cartoon is in pretty poor taste.

The last, dying gasps of Rupert Murdoch's relevance.

Don't you believe it. Rupert has risen from the grave more often than Dracula.

okay, my first reaction was "Its Obama.. oh, holy crap thats racist!!" But then i rethought it, and realized they were just trying to say that the stimuus bill was so screwed up it must have been written by a monkey. And that was funny. But people rarely stop to consider a second possibility. The Post is hosed.

Obama? I thought it was Roland Burris.

The "so screwed up it must have been written by a monkey" was my first reaction. Then when people said "RACIST!" I went "O.o I guess it could be..."

I wonder if, at any point, the cartoonist paused to wonder if there were a better way to do this.

Is this really any different or worse than Oliphant's drawing of Condi Rice as a parrot with big lips?

From: [identity profile] blueduck37.livejournal.com
As awful as that cartoon sounds, this one is 100x times worse.

And-- as per my original comment above-- this particular cartoonist (the go-to guy for the NY Post) is just an all-around moron/piece of shit, so I won't act shocked here.

Really anyone surprised by this doesn't read the NY Post everyday like I do. It's a rag. That's being generous.

I think that's actually worse than this one.

The Condi one doesn't play on any classic racist tropes.

But it is pretty horrible in its own right -- whatever one thinks of Dr. Rice's loyalty to Bush, she was an accomplished academic and Provost of Stanford before joining the administration. She is many things, but a brain dead parrot is not one of them.

An african-american woman being republican and actually joining the Bush admin was pretty braindead.

As I said, they literally hand out it for free in Manhattan.

It's a great insight into what the latest GOP talking points are.

When I used to live in Brooklyn I'd only get it for free every once in a while, which came in handy on the train. But I could never bear to actually pay for the thing.

I don't understand how a recent news story about a chimp being shot by police has anything to do with the economy, the president, etc.

Date: 2009-02-19 02:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] malasadas.livejournal.com
He's probably TRYING to say "the stimulus bill is so bad it might as well have been written by a chimp" but he is lacking the part of his brain that is supposed to evaluate statements, similes and metaphors for whether or not they are just insanely horrible.
