Have at it.

Date: 2009-01-20 03:14 pm (UTC)But srsly, what is TBE? I've seen this twice in two days now (don't recall seeing it before), and all the things I can come up with don't seem to fit...
Ahah! To Be Expected, no?
Ellie: Try this in future, http://www.acronymfinder.com/ although for TBE the first one was Tick-Borne Encephalitis; which perhaps does fit...
"TBE" means...
Date: 2009-01-19 04:26 pm (UTC)You're probably one of those people who insist that immigrants learn English or get out.
Hypocrisy. I guess that's to be expected.
Re: "TBE" means...
Date: 2009-01-19 04:40 pm (UTC)yeah, cause TBE means ONE THING ONLY. right.
Re: "TBE" means...
Date: 2009-01-19 04:44 pm (UTC)Just like "set" means one thing in English. (BTW, the word "set" has more definitions than any other word in the English language, fyi.) So, you have to go by context. Sooooo, given the context, and the fact that I spelled it out in my previous comment, take your pick:
TBE Tick-Borne Encephalitis
TBE Très Bon État (French: very good condition)
TBE Tabbrowser Extensions (Mozilla Firefox extension)
TBE To Be Expected
TBE Teledyne Brown Engineering (an Allegheny Teledyne Company)
TBE Transitional Bilingual Education
TBE Tris-Borate-Edta Buffer
TBE To Be Evaluated
TBE Tenancy by the Entirety
TBE Turbo-Back Exhaust
TBE Temple Beth Emeth (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA)
TBE Threaded Both Ends
TBE Tabbed Browser Extension
TbE Terabit Ethernet
TBE Time Base Error
TBE The Benchmark Exchange
TBE T-box factor-Binding Element
TBE Technical Bid Evaluation
TBE Toilet Bowl Effect (RC helicopters)
TBE The Bicycle Escape (Frederick, MD)
TBE Total Budget Estimate
TBE Task Breakdown Element
TBE Trade Bill of Exchange
TBE Telecommunications & Broadcast Equipment
TBE Time Based Escalation
TBE Transient Buffer Exposure
TBE Timing Belt End

Date: 2009-01-19 06:01 pm (UTC)See! Isn't that fun?
Date: 2009-01-19 07:27 pm (UTC)I have a confession to make...I was giving you a hard time. I was just trying to work in the term "to be expected" in a funny way. I, too, dislike those anagrams and can recognize just a handful at this point. In fact, I had to Google "TBE." That's where I got the long list (It took all of 20 seconds to find the list and cut/paste it, btw.) I saw the same one used yesterday in this community and I thought it meant "The Best Ever," but clearly I was wrong.
So, while I agree that anagrams are lazy and a bad way to communicate, I found it does no good to complain. Just look up the ones you don't know and you'll grow your vocabulary in no time.

Date: 2009-01-19 07:33 pm (UTC)you're so silly.

Also, I initially thought it was "to be exact".
