Dear Right-Wingers, I love God and all, but for Christ's sake (literally) shut the f--- up!
Here's a little write up on the perennial protest to which this 'toon is referring.

Also, here's a disturbing WSJ article that shows Rupert Murdoch (no relation) is having his impact on the WSJ. Yes, he's claiming the financial meltdown has been caused by the secularization of American society!

Date: 2008-11-21 10:39 pm (UTC)I believe the reasoning for the knickers in a twist by Christian groups, was some American stores were specifically removing all reference to xmas and telling employees to avoid saying it as well, in the spirit of inclusion etc and well, we all know how Christians hate inclusion and equal rights.

Adult: "No. You can say 'Merry Christmas' if you want to, but some people celebrate other holidays instead."
Child: "But Christmas is funner! Everybody should do Christmas!"
Adult: "I'm glad you enjoy Christmas, but you can't make other people do something, just because you want them to."
Child: *pouts* "If they don't say 'Merry Christmas' then... they HATE ME!"

Date: 2008-11-22 10:40 am (UTC)And fundamentally? People came to this country for religious freedom (well some groups). I wonder if they realize what they're doing is akin to what would have been done in England against the Pilgrims. I don't know.
Sometimes you got to respect that people don't feel the same way you do. A store doesn't want to discriminate against anyone who would like to shop there.
