Gays are slightly old. I really hope no one campaigns on this issue because it's definitely a losing battle. Terrorists are scary, but the thought of total domination of radical Islam should be much scarier to the average American. Illegal immigration is still a huge problem, and it should not be trivialized.
Not quite. The businesses are the enablers of this problem. They want cheap labor, in order to maximize profit. Illegals fit that equation nicely because they don't have to be paid minimum wage.
I say we make illegal immigration extremely difficult (with my magic wand, of course), then make becoming a citizen extremely easy. They start paying taxes into the system, they get benefits, and they contribute to the melting pot.
I would also like legal immigration to become easier as well. Right now, the process is far too long, and far too expensive. With modern technology, things can become much more streamlined.
Doesn't playing into every last thing the terrorists want AS WE HAVE DONE these 6 years (US out of saudi arabia, a convenient shooting gallery filled with US soldiers, a rallying conflict to recruit jihadis and turn public support away from us, a way to bleed us of men and treasure, hindering our ability to respond to real crises, etc etc) increase exponentially the likelihood of dominance by radical islam?
Well, after the invasion you'll just all have to learn the Koran....
Madness is madness, my dear. It would take an invading army of millions and millions to change America....look at the problem we're having in maintaining order in Iraq....there are almost 300 million Americans, mostly armed: only China and India have enough manpower to actually do anything conventionally, and their technology is quite up to it either. The whole Arab world couldn't put the personnel together to invade effectively. But we can, and do invade them, on a semi-regular basis. Motes and Beams, as the Bible says....which is typical of the hypocrisy of the GOP on just about every issue, from gay rights (and lavatorial assignations) onward.
Could you please propose a reasonable scenario where radical islamic groups are able to overthrow the United States? I have yet to find any rational scenario that doesn't involve us overthrowing our own best interests out of fear and hysteria.
Actually, it's important because if they keep up their crap, Hillary will be our next president. Right now, some evangelical nitwits are considering running a third party candidate, which will just end up hurting the GOP. It's much better for them to work and compromise with the GOP than to go against it.
My dear, though I may like you personally (given the limitations of the medium via which we interact), the GOP vote being split would not break my heart. I wouldn't side polically with the non-rational for any reason. The main problem with Madfolk is they are not tame: you can't keep them under control. This would be fine if they were more intelligent and enlightened than the rest of us....but actually they live in the dark ages. I tend to think of these things as the problems of the company folk keep. Hang out with madfolk and you'll get tarred with the same brush. I don't know how well up you are on this whole polarisation of rational and religious belief, but the religious madmen have started a process that must end either in them having huge influence on government, or being removed totally from the political debate. And if they attain huge influence on your government be prepared for the Christian version of the Taliban....because that is what they are: scriptural fundamentalists, and like the Islamist and Jewish versions, they spend way too much time looking at the Old Testament. I think they're all the same thing, actually.
