Also, I'm curious if people think Petraeus is liar by saying the following: "At the outset I would like to note that this is my testimony. Although I have briefed my assessment and recommendations to my chain of command, I wrote this testimony myself. It has not been cleared by nor shared with anyone in the Pentagon, the White House or the Congress until it was just handed out."

I doubt that Petraeus is lying. People don't need to lie to editorialise.

The most we can ask for from any report is accurate data, honestly analysed. (Unlike the reports we [the UK] got about the war, the BBC, and WMD.)
How far Petraeus's report strays from this ideal only hindsight will show.

show how you can editorialise to such an extent that the conclusions drawn will always be those wanted by your political masters. And the folk in the UK are a lot more cynical and probably more wordly-wise than many other peoples.

Hindsight's told us what both these reports/reviews were worth. Just as hindsight has told us a lot about the war, the subsequent debacle, and our present gift of victory to our populations, and peace and prosperity to the Iraqis.
I just don't get why they're not more grateful.

I am coming to the conclusion that prison is the right place for the folk that put us in this situation. And of those, Saddam was but a minor cog, and obvious target. It's the folk closer to home I'm more concerned with.
