I wonder what they'd do if they finally did get everything they wanted, Israel gone or at least out of their face, etc. Probably start killing each other over some minor point of doctrine, like in Iraq or Ireland or Bosnia.

Your initial comment seemed dismissive and ignorant, but I may be wrong in that impression as it may have been simply ignorant to make a comment without thinking ahead as to how it would be perceived.

Of course I'm not defending it, I don't have to. Violence and hate are the norm. Children are indoctrinated to hate the world over whether it be jews, fags, the poor, commies, or muslims. And once you have the hate it's not a long way to go to murder.

But if you and your family and friends were faced with genocide what would you do?

I don't defend Israel's policies in regards to the Palestinians. And I do sympathize with them, and I understand why they feel as they do. However, I disagree with the methods employed. And I will always disagree with terrorists who attack civilians. I understand if they attack soldiers. That's a military target. But that's not what they are doing for the most part. Usually they go after civilians because they are easier to get at. And shows like that are teaching their children to do the exact same thing.

And no, don't bother to point out that Palestinian civilians suffer as well. I don't condone Israel killing Palestinian civilians either.

Well i wouldnt have mickey mouse teach my children to kill the people who threaten me thats for sure. Even when i was a kid and communism was public enemy number 1. GI Joe wasnt hunting russia down. I was indoctorinated at a young age to hunt down cobra commander and the decepticons.

Now i know what your response will be. That we lived in a different world than those people. Where we are relatively safe. Well possibly, but dont forget about the cold war. Either side could have wiped out the other at a push of a button.

I agree with you, to a point. And that point is when he starts making assumptions about me, my knowledge, and my experiences. At that point, I am perfectly justified in telling him to keep his fucking comments to himself. But I was not telling him not to express his political views by any means.

Touché. But I don't think that any of those you mentioned were battling genocide. Non-violence very may well be effective in winning a moral victory against oppression and tyranny, but in the case of genocide you may just be playing into the hand of those seeking to utterly destroy you. Looking at history and human behavior it doesn't seem that violence or conflict will ever be eliminated. All we can hope to do is find more efficient ways to sublimate or re-direct those behaviors.

I still hope that Israel can be shamed into good behaviour, and that it isn't the equivalent of the Nazi regime. Perhaps I err, but I would prefer to be right rather than otherwise on this matter.

I dont think the purpose of any of the sides in the israeli-palestinian conflict is to annihilate the other side.

If whittaker is right, the thing is still pretty damn disturbing, but it's not about killing anyone. It's about getting bravely shot - as opposed to killing people - for Palestine. As I said, still not exactly wholesome kids' programming, but not quite the way it's been spun.

This is an Important topic. The leaders of Hamas are attempting to brainwash a generation of Palestinians into believing that the only good jew is a dead jew and that the only way to a heavenly reward is through a martyr's death. I believe that this is still being aired.
