Because nothing's funnier than a man with metastatic cancer

From: http://www.foxisevil.com/products/tony-snow-is-an-asshole-t-shirt

Some additional commentary from Charles Karel Bouley of the Huffington Post:

I hear about Tony Snow and say to myself, well, stand up every day, lie to the American people at the behest of your dictator-esque boss and well, how could a cancer NOT grow in you. Work for Fox News, spinning the truth in to a billion knots and how can your gut not rot? I know, it's terrible. I admit it. I don't wish anyone harm, even Tony Snow. And I do hope he recovers or at least does what he feels is best and surrounds himself with friends and family for his journey. But in the back of my head there's Justin Timberlake's "What goes around, goes around, comes around, comes all the way back around, ya.."

(Update: I'd like to go ahead and explicitly add that I think the t-shirt and Bouley's remarks are utterly disgraceful.)

I don't especially care for the guy...but this is depiction is really in poor taste. Would we like something similar posted about Elizabeth Edwards? Two prominent people from separate sides of the aisle essentially got handed death sentences last week. Can't we even come together in empathy to raise awareness about cancer? Or must every ill that befalls a foe become grist for the political mill?

Obviously you don't or you wouldn't have posted this.

I guess it'll be ok when someone posts a shirt of Elizabeth Edwards with John standing over her and the caption "I can't wait for this bitch to keel over so I can sue her doctors!" by your example as long as they add some half assed, flat out lying disclaimer like "Though I don't agree with the sentiment of this."

I've seen plenty of Cox & Forkum cartoons dragging their knuckles in just that way. Rachel Corrie comes to mind.

Personally I want to kick the ass of anyone that'd cheer over this situation. I don't care what his politics may be, or what Mrs. Edwards politics may be... there is no excuse to laugh at someones illness that is going to eventually kill them.

Obviously you didn't get the memo...LIFE is a death sentance . It will Kill you. ...and i find that fact hilarious. Well, that and the Three Stooges.

It happens though. I've taken care of more than a few people with terminal illnesses, and jokes just happen during the day to day. Sometimes it even breaks the tension. There is an apporpriate side of poor taste. Good poor taste isn't mean though.

I'm definitely no kind of saint, but....

This kind of stuff turns my stomach. I can't stand Tony Snow, but my first thought upon hearing the news was, "I hope it turns out well for him." I don't wish suffering upon anyone.

I don't wish cancer upon anyone.

Also, his deputy is nowhere near as entertaining as Mr. Snow.

Get Well soon so comedy can ensue!

It is distasteful to mock cancer sufferers, no matter what their sins. But then again Saddam was a cancer sufferer. Perhaps there's a ratio of sin to suffering that means we overlook some forms of stuff, when it suits us. A threshold of sympathy, if you like. This is clearly wrong, and also clearly true.

I figured Tony caught the cancer from the White House....

Tony Snow should get treated in Walter Reed.

Funny would have been Tony Snow slipping on a banana peel. Tony Snow having cancer isn't funny. I wish him well in this.

Some of the Huffington Post comments about Tony Snow have been disgusting. The truth is that they reflect the character of those that would post such low and hateful statements. The fact that this shirt will be worn in public and make money for those producing it shows how course the public discourse has become.
