But surely it is all Obama's fault for allowing the elected Iraqi government tell US forces to leave.

And besides which, isn't Obama a half-black Muslim not eligible for the presidency anyway. Not, of course that anyone notices that he's not white, because America is obviously a post-racist nation, except for the disaffected black folk and Hispanics who always complain by playing the race card.

But the surge was a success and the elections embraced and represented the will of the Iraqi people.

The worst of the Sunni resistance groups to be sure, but its representative of a discontent and marginalization in a slow burn since the 1980's.

We bitched about Assad's sham elections, but the ones we forced in Iraq were no less a failure. Not that anyone who advocated these policies seems to have any capability for introspection and realization.
