I really don't recall people flipping their shit when the army had to be called in to help with security at the London games because the private security firm couldn't get enough security agents to the city. The Russian people are the ones getting screwed over. That it's a boondoggle of record proportions is their problem I suppose. Overall, it just adds to the perception that hosting the Olympics is a royal fuck you to the residents of said unfortunate region.
