It helps to remember the hideously obnoxious ad campaign (http://swaggernewyork.com/2013/09/04/exclusive-lisa-simpson-daria-and-other-90s-cartoon-characters-take-on-new-york-fashion-week/) that these were made in protest of in the first place.

Also, it's worth checking out the rest of the 90s cartoon characters who were radicalized (http://www.blackgirldangerous.org/2013/09/24/unfit-for-product-placement-radicalizing-the-cartoon-characters-of-our-childhoods/) by McKenzie, Salgado, and Vasquez.
