In December last year he decided that the government should get out of the marriage business.
In January last year he said "I have exactly the same opinion on gay marriage that President Obama has, unless he's lying." Beck said that while he didn't believe in same-sex marriage, he did believe in civil unions for gay couples. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/06/glenn-beck-gay-marriage-president-obama_n_1189518.html)
He was also using the slippery slope argument around the same time: (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/01/06/beck-uses-math-equation-to-explain-argument-against-gay-marriage/)
"The equation is: one guy, one woman equals marriage. That’s the equation. One plus one — one guy, plus one woman — equals marriage. Now, let’s change the second variable. One guy — change the second variable — plus one guy — equals marriage. One woman plus one woman equals marriage. Okay, well how about we change the other variable. Two guys plus one woman equals marriage. One guy plus three women equal marriage.”
So he has not been in favour of gay marriage ever and has only been in favour of equal status for about three months.
Beck was pretty clear about it in 2010 (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/12/glenn-beck-gay-marriage-n_n_679691.html). He's very libertarian about it.
And the slippery slope thing, by the way? It's a key reason why I support gay marriage. I want the dominoes to fall.
Indeed, and that's understandable given the trend. It misunderstands the concept of consent and property, but it's not the craziest point of view on the matter.
