Jesus never promised the end of wicked people. You might be thinking of Muhammed, who promised the end of all infidels, which are considered wicked. Jokes about Islam aren't trendy though, especially since every cartoon about Muhammed might lead to an eight year old boy getting a bomb strapped to him.
So we're a century ahead of them, big deal. Do you seriously think Christians wouldn't use similar tactics had they had the same technology before they got "civilized"?
