It's like Michael Vick is, like, white, and old, and instead of dogfighting he abuses children! So can we expect these cartoons throughout the day now as well?
It's funny because "Hollywood" (aka: some Random famous people who make movies) don't want some dude to go to jail, thus anything else advocated by anyone famous via movies is somehow tarnished.
Not everyone in Hollywood supports him. There are a few who haven't. Luc Besson is the first to come to mind, but I know he's not the only one.
And he doesn't deserve anyone's support. He may be a genius, but the fact that he's a rapist doesn't make it mutually exclusive.
Would they be protesting like this if he'd killed someone and then plea bargained down and fled the country to avoid going to jail for the lesser charge?
Only those hollywood personalities and people that are Liberal Democrats are supporting him. But then again, they are mostly wealthy and famous. Go figure ...
Because we all know there are soooo many wealthy and famous Hollywood conservatives. I can only name a handful off the top of my head and none of them has probably even met Polanski. I haven't heard a peep out of any of the usual suspects (Patricia Heaton, Kelsey Grammar, Jon Voight) about the matter either for or against Polanski. Heaton and Grammar are way too busy driving their new shows into early cancellation and Voight is too busy being a Birther and making racist statements about Obama.
I firmly believe Roman Polanski should be in jail. Granted the girl, who is now a woman, wants charges dropped. I don't care if they get him on the rape charge anymore, for the woman's sake, but it doesn't change the fact that he fled the country, and that's fucking illegal.
1) Polanski should have been pursued when this was a more pertinent issue
2) I could give a flying fuck what those fucking creeps in Hollywood think, and by "fucking creeps" I mean both the idiot liberals and the fucking freak insane conservatives like Voight
3) Polanski admitted guilt and then fled; I do not believe there's any statute of limitations on that particular offense, so of course he should go to jail. He shouldn't get a pass because he's some "great artist;" I saw "Check Out This Little Girl I'm Fuckin'" I mean, "Tess," and it was a stupid, boring piece of shit. In fact the only film he ever touched that was worth a fuck was "Chinatown" and that was carried by Nicholson.
THAT SAID! The woman in question is 45 years old and has said the whole fucking emotional nightmare gets dragged out anytime anyone mentions this in the media and she's fucking sick of it and wants it to be over. Yes, she doesn't really get a vote in this since it's a legal matter. But I feel it should be considered as well.
If it were, a large proportion of assaults against women and children would never be brought to a close. :-/ It's awful that she has to be dragged through all this though.
According to what I've read lately, there were several attempts to apprehend Polanski over the past 30 years, and the weasel always managed to sleaze his way through their fingers because he'd get tipped off before he stepped foot on soil where they could extradite him.
And since he brags about how "everyone wants to fuck young girls" he should be put away. Maybe that shit flies in France, but other 13 year olds could be in danger while he walks free.

Or if he'd stolen Oscar or something?

That's true, and thank you for reminding me.
But knowing that rationally doesn't always help me feel less frustrated about it.

Rape is not acceptable, whether by rock stars, politicians, film stars, writers, or whomever.
