I think it all depends on who does it. When the NYT mentioned Cheney's house, it revealed nothing secret or unapproved, but it was regarded by the hysterical Right as some kind of High Treason.

And you seem to have much more confidence in Bush than I do in that regard. He has compromised military and intelligence assets to make short-term political gains.
