I disagree. You're conflating intent with outcome. The proponents of communism have historically tried to force a distributed economy to arise but instead end up becoming a centralized totalitarian regime.
The left's silencing of opposition and now emerging violence are manifestations of such mentality. i.e. Their actions represent this desire to have complete control of outcome.
As a previous poster has pointed out freedom of speech is not and never has been an absolute right. It is balanced on the responsibility of truthful statements in the public interest.
When did the left become the epitome of public interest? And, see, that's the hubris I've been pointing out.
The left needs to swallow your advice and start behaving responsibly. Sam Harris did a good job here pointing out how lefties have been dishonest and lost touch with public interest:
> When did the left become the epitome of public interest?<
Who said that it did?
> Sam Harris did a good job here pointing out how lefties have been dishonest and lost touch with public interest:<
Meh, that video makes assertions that don't stand up to the facts. The facts are that the Democrats didn't pitch to the rust belt states, and they paid dearly for that.
There was nothing, absolutely nothing, in the Clinton platform that addressed their issues, even if they couldn't vote for Trump, they saw no reason to get up and vote for Clinton. And that's what the empirical data says.
