Yes, that an area where we are culturally lagging behind lots of other nations. It is to some extend the continuing imprints of traditionalist christian and muslim dogmas, and partly a result of specific prison culture which had a disproportional influence on the masses in soviet and immediately post-soviet times. An influence that owes half its severety to the incredible proportion of people who have gone through communist prison system and half to the fact that criminal subculture was for a very long time an only non-official cultural phenomena that existed for mass consumption.
