And the government is going to say
you cannot drive with a buzz, and
they'll make you get a license and
pay insurance - it's madness I tell you!!

Not to mention the competence tests and traffic laws. The tyranny that is lanes.

You should have seen the kerfluffle when seat belt laws were instituted. OMG, the whining from the right was amazing. The whining for 55 mph law was pretty loud too. It was right up there with death panels for grandma.

Yep, my dad (loyal talk radio listener) would not stop bitching about it, I remeber that well. Too bad the Internet wasn't a thing at the time; showing a person a video of what happens when four people are in a car and only three have their seatbelts does the trick every time.

I'm in New York. We got the first seat belt laws thirty years ago. Talk radio wasn't even a thing then except for Jesus, sports and Bob Grant. The kerfluffle was all newspaper editorials and soapboxing by politicians on Sunday morning talk shows.

One year into the new law I had an accident and my seat belt saved my life. I became a seat belt evangelist.

It's a known fact that airbags and seat belts save lives. And adding seat belts and airbags do not restrict the driver's choice of automobiles. Or how many automobiles he has. Or how many cylinders the automobile has. Or how much gas the automobile can hold before refueling.

Anyway, I thought it was improper to compare guns to cars. Isn't that what the pro-gun control people say?
