I'd quite like to see a study on this with some quantitative data. These photos are both are just cherry-picked anecdotal data.
I do get annoyed when people use up multiple seats when a train is busy, and it is annoying if someone takes up an unnecessary amount of space if you have people sat next to you. I can imagine men are more likely to do the latter, but I've never noticed a gender split with the former.
