Nicholas Kristof has a good column on welfare takers of the country, including welfare subsidies for private planes and yachts: "A Nation of Takers?"

Nah. Both major parties are historically party to this situation brewing, at least since the 1980s. We now have a choice between rich party and richer party.

We need some true progressives in office—people who motivate the pitchforks, at least just enough to start people quivering—and we won't get them as long as money funds campaigns.
