He's not forcing other people to wear plastic coverings. He's not asking the people from the plane to cover it in plastic, or do something else that would bother others. he's only making things hard on himself.

It may be silly to us, but I have much less issues with people doing stuff like this, than I have with people trying to force others to abide by their religion.
