So that they too can know what it is to live under a loving God.

I think most missionaries would have the opposite answer to that question, but good joke anyway.

as Terry Pratchett puts it in one of his books "And this why it is essential to shoot all missionaries"

On the other hand - 'Eskimo' is seriously out of line, these days

Asian-American is the preferred nomenclature?

In Canada, Inuit. Not sure about US. Two countries separated by a common language.

Alaskan native or somesuch?

Inuit is what we use for that indigenous people, too, here in Australia.

Inuit doesn't quite cut it, since it doesn't include the Inupiat in NW Alaska.

It might not cut it for a general search-and-replace of everything, but given the bland dumbness of the macro image above, subbing it in that image would work

Yeah, I asked essentially the same question of my Sunday School teacher when I was 12 (my parents were not church going, but I went by myself as a 12 year old to see what was what).

But it only 'works' when confronting people who have attempted to reconcile the idea of damnation with their own personal moral set by making an exception for ignorance and innocence. Lots of mainstream religions (Most? Not sure) make no attempt at such a reconciliation. I think many religious people DO, and are totally unaware that they are ideologically at odds with their own denomination.

Well, since this is a picture of a man dressed in traditional Kobuk costume, if we wanted to get REALLY pedantic, we would say Inupiat.

I know that folks in Greenland and Canada consider Eskimo pejorative (for odd and complicated reasons including a folk etymology of the word Eskimo) but it still gets used in the states because Alaska has folks who are part of the circumpolar indigenous milieu typically termed Eskimo, but who are not Inuit.

Thank you.

Fuck me. I am just gonna go with "those people who live there."
