Mass shootings are a vanishingly small fraction of all homicides, even in the US. Basing any social policy on them is idiocy. The goal should be to reduce homicide and crime overall.

Your gun restrictions have had no effect on homicide, and have only increased other crimes. The same is true in the UK. When people push for the same thing in the US, it's giving them the benefit of the doubt to call them ignorant. Because the alternative is that they're stupid or evil.
