He's clearly positioning himself nationally right now, probably to run in 2012, but Rand Paul is easily one of the most cynical players in the Senate. He's got a glow right now, and I think there is about a pretty low chance that it will last when people learn more about him. Call it Mitt Romney syndrome, the more you know about Rand Paul, the less likely his national prospects will become. I'm not even sure a majority of Republican primary voters would vote for a guy who loves rape babies so much, although who knows. The debates sure will be fun though.
