You still don't get it. SOMEBODY has to clean out our toilets, pick our fruits and vegetables, and wipe the asses of the elderly and disabled. Nine times out of ten those people are immigrants. I worked for a nonprofit that provided services for people with disabiities that ranged from day programs to accompanying them to their jobs. Most of the people we employed were people of color, many were immigrants, and all of the immigrants had to have green cards.

People have to do these jobs. Most of them don't pay more than minimum wage, so most educated people won't do them. My nonprofit was an exception--plenty of people who worked there were educated. They did the work because they loved helping people and giving back. The immigrants especially wanted to give back.

Not everybody goes to work just to make money. Some people actually want to give back. It's not their fault that these jobs pay shit. Not everybody can be a doctor, lawyer or entrepreneur--if they were, we'd have no one to do the necessary shit jobs.

Oh, and what about those people with disabilities that my nonprofit and others like Goodwill help to get jobs so they can live independently? Are you suggesting that, because they're paid minimum wage, they "fucked up severely" by being born with a disability?
